Fujifilm X100VI

Let me start by saying I am NOT recommending someone use a Fujifilm x100 series camera as their main camera to photograph a wedding. While it is a very capable little camera I don't feel this could be a main camera body with only one SD card slot and small batteries. As well as being limited to the fixed 35mm lens.

Previously to owning this camera I have used both the X100F and X100V in addition to my main gear at many photoshoots and have gotten some of my favorite photos from them. (I still always have my R6 and R8 and lenses hanging off of me on a wedding day with this hanging in the middle. I look a little crazy!)

One of the reasons I have found this camera (and the other models) to be so useful on a wedding day is because of how small and unassuming this little beast is. People tend to be more shy in front of a larger camera setup but I can pull this out and be discreet (and quiet thanks to the leaf shutter!) and photograph lots of little moments up close and personal. This has been extremely useful in receptions and cocktail hour as people are mingling.

The other reason I love this camera is for the ability to have beautiful straight out of camera jpegs to share with the couple. I do preface this by saying that the final color edits might look slightly different but this gives them a few to have at the end of the night right away. I have also used this in conjunction with my Instax printer to provide a few polaroids photos from the day.

I follow a few great documentary wedding photographers who swear by cameras like this or even the x70 for capturing those little in between moments and I have found them to be absolutely right. Not only has this camera proved useful in the scenarios I mentioned above, it has brought back extra joy in photography for me. I'l definitely be keeping it in my wedding bag for years to come.
